Test Trends - SNAP
Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of all Symbiosis autonomous postgraduate institutes. As mentioned in the brochure the paper was divided into 5 sections with no sectional time limit. Here we are presenting the overall analysis of SNAP-2004

Mode of marking the ovals : For marking answer options only ballpoint pen was allowed and change of answer option was not allowed. For marking two answer options there was a negative marking of 1 mark.

Section I (Verbal Ability)
There were 25 questions. 15 questions on analogies, synonyms and antonyms. 4 questions on sentence completion (fill in the blanks type). There were 6 questions based on critical reasoning (assumption based). Attempts should be 18+ and score should be 14+.This is an overview, for the students those who want to feel the knack of it.
Section II ( Quantitative Ability)
About 10-12 questions were based on Probability & Permutation & Combination, and rests of the questions were from arithmetic and geometry. In all this was the toughest of all the sections.
Ideally one could attempt 13-15 questions in 25 minutes.
Section III ( DI/DS)
The DI section was easy. There were 17 questions on tabular form. The 8 DS questions were there and they were of average difficulty level.
An attempt of 25+ and score of 20+ is expected in this section.
Section IV ( General Knowledge)
It contained a total of 25 questions on general awareness. The level of difficulty was tough. Questions were covered from areas like: Physics, International currency, Chemistry, Constitution, Mathematics, History etc. There were only 3-4 questions based on current affairs. Number of attempts should be 12 to 14 with a score of 8+.
Section V ( Analytical & Logical Reasoning)
The reasoning questions were of average level of difficulty which comprised around 8 questions from pictorial Reasoning, 12 questions from mathematical reasoning, and rest of the questions were based on coding & decoding,& analytical reasoning and of Average level of difficulty. The questions based on mathematical operations were time consuming so the best approach was to leave those questions.
Ideally one could attempt 20 - 22 questions in 30 minutes.
Overall Cutoff:
Candidates who obtain an overall score of 75 + can expect a call from all the 7 institutes.
