Section I (Quantitative Aptitude)
There were total 48 questions. This section was exclusively devoted to Problem Solving. This year saw the addition of questions from topics like functions, trigonometry and vector 3-D as well. Apart from these topics there were question from the usual areas of Algebra, Arithmetic and Geometry. But the more emphasis was on higher mathematics. There was around 30 questions from higher mathematics and 15 questions were based on arithmetic.
Ideally one could attempt 35-38 questions in 40 minutes.
Section II (Reasoning Ability)
There were total 48 questions. This section comprised questions from Data Interpretation, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Critical Reasoning and coding and decoding. While the DI questions were of average level of difficulty but it was time consuming. The emphasis was more on critical reasoning questions.
Ideally one could attempt 33 - 35 questions in 35 minutes.
Section III ( Verbal / RC )
This section comprised questions from Reading Comprehension (5 Passages around 300-350 words), Fill In the Blanks, Antonyms, Synonyms, Jumbled Paragraphs, Analogy, and identify the misspelled words. The EU section was easy but the RC section was tough and time consuming.
Ideally one could attempt 25-27 questions in 30 minutes.
Section IV ( General Knowledge)
The questions were mixed in nature based on Current Affairs, Business, History, Geography, Constitution, WTO and Foreign Trade,
Ideally one could attempt 35 questions in 15 minutes
(Overall Score)
A good score in this test for admission to IIFT will be 54+
