How to Apply for GRE

To take the GRE, you would have to register for the official test on ETS site. The registration process is quite simple. You just need an account on ETS website and provide them with essential information. You will be done with the registration in less than 15 minutes.

For registering:

  • Before you register, check the ID requirements here. If you register for the test using a name other than the one that matches the ID you plan to use on test day, you may be prevented from taking the test and you will need to pay to register again, so this is very important!
  • Create an account on ETS Website or login if you have one.
  • Select Register/Find Test Centers.
  • Select the GRE General Test.
  • Choose test at home or search for a test center location.
  • Choose the two-month window you want to search and continue.
  • Select your preferred date from the calendar and explore availability.
  • Once you have selected your preferred date, time and location, click “Register for this test.
  • Complete and pay for your registration. Once processed, you will receive a confirmation email from ETS.

Alternative Method

You can register for GRE also by calling your Regional Registration Center (RRC) at least two business days before the desired test date. Once you register, you get your confirmation number, date, time, and test center. You would require this information on the exam date, so note it carefully.

Candidates in China can register for the test only through their online NEEA account. And the candidates in Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan need to register using their ETS account.
