Looking for an Assessment Partner for your school?

Looking for an Assessment Partner for your school?

By / Feb 13, 2019

Choosing an assessment partner for your school can be tricky. Make sure the prospective assessment provider has answers to all these questions.

Set 1

ass_partner

- Are the assessment objectives defined?

- Are these aligned with instructional objectives?

- Are the question items aligned with the learning objectives?

- How are the common test-writing pitfalls (like the below) being addressed?

• Distracter Length Cues
• Logical Cues
• Three one split
• Grammatical Cues

- How are learning objectives being correlated to reduce test length?

Set 2

- Is the field test database large enough for standardising and equating tests scores before it’s given to a school?

- Are question items statistically calibrated for difficulty and discrimination, or they are simply based on choice of the test developer?

Set 3

- Is the student and school performance being compared at regional and national level?

- Is the progress of a student across different subjects and topics being correlated and monitored through defined statistical tools? How do we compare 85% score in an easy test followed by 75% in a difficult one, or 80% scored in an algebra test and 75% in a geometry test?

- What statistical tools are being used to remove false or unrealistic data?

- Is there a large topic-wise question bank, duly tagged, for remedial testing? How does it work?

Set 4

- Does the assessment provider hold the copyright to the content provided, for the school to ward off subsequent legal troubles?

- What kind of teaching methodology and instructional design does the assessment support?

- What is the frequency of testing recommended per subject? Will it be practically possible to maintain the frequency?

- What are the commitments on continuous product improvement so that there is no scope for the product to get outdated? Is proper product research infrastructure in place to meet up the commitments?
