Should Students Take CUET Lightly?

Should Students Take CUET Lightly?

Should Students Take CUET Lightly?

By Admin / May 05, 2022

Here are some of the arguments being advanced to establish that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) makes it much easier for students to gain admittance to the portals of premier institutes of UG education

  1. It caters to the requirements of students who have received school education in any of the vernacular/regional languages.
  2. It offers a huge choice of domain subjects and languages to suit the student's needs.
  3. It tests for the exact curriculum as taught in class XII.
  4. The stated level of questions will be easy to moderate.

On the face of it, the concept of one nation one test seems very attractive. And on the face of it, the CUET application process should become much simpler and UG admission 2022 a cakewalk even for students sitting in remote corners of the country. It should. Yet it is doubtful if it will.

Now consider the other side.

  1. Is 'one size fits all' a sound strategy for a country so diverse in language, teaching practices, etc? Already there is the example of the IIT JEE and NEET (UG) causing so much of discontent across the country.
  2. Is the curriculum taught in schools around the country exactly the same (despite claims to the contrary)? Also, is the scoring system the same across universities/boards across the country?
  3. Does the practice of 'easy to moderate' questions essentially make the competition easier for the student? Does the system not perpetuate the system of near 100 % cut-offs witnessed at some of the Delhi colleges over the years?
  4. Most important, is the system likely to phase out or perpetuate the coaching system? Even if the curriculum is the same, isn't the test pattern very different? Look at what happened in the case of IIT JEE or NEET. Didn't the type of competition required sent the students scurrying across to the coaching institutes, whether or not they could afford them?

So, what should the average student do?

It goes without saying that as of now students fear the CUET exam more than they look forward to it. It also goes without saying that most of the students need help in preparing and strategizing for the exam. Yet the students don't have to spend a fortune on this.

They have online platforms like TCYonline.com to provide complete test prep exactly in the form it is tested in the CUET exam, at highly affordable costs. Students start with topic-wise tests on each topic, for conceptual clarity, before going on to simulated mock tests on each subject/domain.

TCY Analytics provides a complete analysis of the student's performance and tells him
