With the new scores reporting policies, GMAC is giving you the opportunity to view your unofficial scores before taking a decision: whether to report the scores or to cancel them.
Consider the following 3 points before taking a decision:
1. Which programs do you want to send your scores to? You test fee includes five free score reports, which must be selected at the test center before you start the exam. Go to mba.com/schoolfinder for a comprehensive list of programs so you can explore the possibilities in advance to reduce any anxiety or stress.
2. What are the minimum scores you will report? You have only 2 minutes to decide whether you wish to report the scores or you wish to cancel them. So it is in your favor to go prepared with a minimum threshold in mind. The scores will automatically get cancelled if you do not decide in the given time.
3. Do you have time to retake the GMAT if you cancel your scores? You can take GMAT 5 times a year but only once during a 31-day period. Though you get your unofficial scores instantly, but the turnaround time for publishing the official scores is around 20 days. So, you should know when you need your score and do you have sufficient time to retake the GMAT. Also, if you cancel your scores, but decide later on that you wish to report them, you have 60 days from your test date to reinstate your scores for a US$100 fee.
